I Strongly suggest that the owners of these businesses do something quickly.

Be WARNED!! Anyone who goes to the businesses on 33rd South and State street -- regardless of what business you go into, you COULD BE TOWED!! Happened to Josh and I this Friday and it was a nightmare. We went into Red Ginger Bistro to check on the wait time, came out and found the car was gone. 5 others got their cars towed, even when they went to stores that were in that complex! Here is the letter sent to the owners and property managers. Don't let this happen to you.

To the Businesses and Property Owners of 33rd Street Station:

The nature of business is to serve the customer and to create return business through loyalty. We, the undersigned, gave our time and money to merchants on or near the 33rd Street Station. All of us had our vehicles towed on the evening of Friday May 11th. In some cases we had dinner at the Red China Bistro. In other cases we patronized the businesses of 33rd Station. In every case we were charged an exorbitant ransom to retrieve our cars and our evening plans were ruined to the tune of $279.00 each.

Having consulted with legal counsel we can now address the matter with less emotion and more information.

You are within your rights as business/property owners to tow any car you like.
Your ambigous signage is not enough for us to seek legal redress
Because we were informed by the towing company "we have your car and every day we do it will cost you more to get it back" we had to pay, even if it meant for some an entire paycheck gobbled up by this greed.

That being said, please understand that we too have our rights to behave as we choose.

We will not park at your location again -- not for any reason, nor will we give our time and money to the businesses at 33rd Street Station -- because we know that even those with legitimate business with those merchants were STILL TOWED.

We will use our voice as consumers to tell everyone on our respective Facebook pages, our family, friends and acquaintances. We would not want any of them to fall victim to such an expensive and unnecessary situation. Please note that there is no greater advertiser than positive word of mouth. The only thing that spreads faster and is more effective is negative opinion.

We will encourage you, through this letter, to choose to amend your practices, namely:
Choose a different towing company. The towing company dispatcher was rude and unprofessional, and unwilling to give information -- such as the address where we could retrieve our cars, and even threatened more fees because of "bad attitude."
The young men towing the cars did so without regard to whether some of the patrons were doing actual business with the merchants at 33rd Street Station.
The towing fee charged is unreasonable in the extreme.

Last of all, why not choose to allow the success of a nearby business, namely Red Ginger Bistro, to rent additional parking places from you on a monthly basis -- thereby bringing in more money for you as property owners, and happier repeat customers?

It is a long standing and very accurate saying that "what goes around, comes around." Be assured, we will no longer be coming around. We believe others will follow suit.

Sincerely,
